50 claps Minimum!
And I’ll tell you why
Because most writers, good, not so good, expert, talented, or downright amazing like to receive praise. But what if a reader believes the work just read wasn’t special, wasn’t anything listed above, should they abuse the writer with a single clap? Some might say yes.
I argue that whatever is written, it took time, it undoubtedly means something to the author, and he or she risked putting it out there. I don’t give a flying fuck how astounding or how much work is still required, I appreciate what has gone into any piece of work. Any one of us knows that writing is not easy, much less putting it out there for other eyes to read.
Maybe some of us break our hearts better than others or are more disgusted by dog shit than someone else, or went into space on a hobby horse, for fucks sake. None of us are writing for Random House here.
No one, not one writer on Medium deserves a slap in the face with a single clap.
Do I get them, yes, occasionally, but I’m not starting out, my hide is that of a rhino, but fuck do I remember the beginning, those first silly words placed on paper trying to tell someone how I felt.
A single clap is a laugh in the face. A sneer. A miserable recognition of crap. Who the fuck deserves that?
Get a life. Stop with the single clap, okay!
