Everyone in Heaven is Thirty Years Old
So, I figure, what’s the rush?
Look here, friends, I’m closer to eighty than seventy, and it’s my fault. I planned for sixty-five tops; honestly, though, sixty initially seemed perfect. Here’s the problem: I hadn’t planned the ending, nor did I know how or where.
Here’s the story.
I created myself with one ambition: to do something amazing and get the hell out.
It happened this way because I had nothing to write. When I write, I’m in control. But I fucked up. I started out okay; in fact, it was truly satisfying, positive, irreducible, maybe, but without a plan to end. So, like I said, I fucked up.
So, as you can tell, I have to sit here in Hawaii, be pissed off and be old, worried, and, of course, muddled all the time.
But I’m not. It’s my fault; I own it.
In the end, mine is a story that has the power. Like it might go on forever. I follow, record, write, and live the character night and day — a story with no beginning, middle, or end. Just a mind crammed with ideas, visions, and all good stuff, so good I could dance with it, but I have no rhythm.
Here’s how such sweet stupidities happen, and by this, I mean the writing stupidity because being an old fuck takes no work at all. I need the thread of words running through my day, living in my mind; an imaginary person without a story is no longer imaginary. What will it give me?
Harry identifies with my person completely, deeply, even bodily, because this is the physical side of the story.
Trust me on this; if you can’t make the world into a story, I’ll go mad, or get real old, real quick.
Relax, I’m no longer in a rush. I figure everyone in heaven is probably thirty years old anyway.
