Let’s try this again!

What is my LEAST favorite green animal. (I misread this challenge.)

I am, by classification, an animal, primate, Homo, Sapien species. There have been several times in my life when I’ve felt green, either with sickness, or envy. Most times envy.

I can recount each of the times, which is sad by anyone’s perspective. It happens here occasionally, when I read another post, and think to myself, I want to write that way, have something astounding to say, or write so beautifully. But for the most part turning green was a youthful experience.

It was those times I least like myself.

Having served nine years in the RAF, my dream was to become a ‘front line’* pilot. I was trained to fly the VTOL* Harrier Mk1. For six years I studied to become one of the best. My class had seventeen other students wanting the same. Two made it through. Green doesn’t even begin to explain the disappointment and envy I felt.

“feeling of mortification and ill-will occasioned by the contemplation of superior advantages possessed by another,” according to the Oxford English Dictionary.

That definition sums it up. I had envisaged living the life of a flyer but left after nine years. Even today I have not got rid of the feeling of failing my exam. But other failures have been added, that of being a protective husband and father. Today I envy my son, wishing I been the kind of man he has become.

Today, I’m hoping to become the next Earnest Hemingway every time I read the man, and that Brett Jenae Tomlin woman, I want to kill her, smoke her, and blow her away!

Not that I’m green with envy, you understand. (A little greenish, kind of thing.)
