Part Three, 2050 A.D.
Are you kidding me?
2052 A.D.
The last man on Earth had finally come up with a name for himself: Adam. He liked it, couldn’t be shortened, and had a nice ring to it. Of course, that left the beetle feeling alone. Adam named him, Ringo. He didn’t know why, just something in the back of his mind rang true.
As they traversed the haunting landscapes, Adam and Ringo encountered remnants of the past — a shattered city skyline, scorched landscapes, and twisted metal structures.
There was always hope. If Ringo survived who is to say something else might have miraculously saved itself. Each night, Ringo, brought a glimmer of hope into their bleak surroundings.
On the last Friday of the month, having a meal which Adam had cheerfully called Beetle Juice, and which Ringo thought was in poor taste, there was a knock at the door.
It had to be unrealistic, Adam thought when Ringo reminded him of the day he knocked and while Adam was looking around, Ringo crawled into the warmth. Their journey together had been a testament to the endurance of life, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges.
Adam opened the door.
Immediately, Adam didn’t believe his eyes. His fantasy was standing there, holding an apple in her hand. Ringo asked who it was.
Without hesitation Adam answered. It’s Eve.
Ringo was confused. “Who the fuck is Eve?”
Ringo was especially pleased that this new world had given him the powers of speech.
“It’s Eve, Ringo. She’s got an apple.”
“Fuck her off, Adam, you’ve been here before. How did that work out for you?”
Adam slammed the door.
