Thank you for this reminder, Michael, about road safety, drinking, speeding, (shootings) and the many ways it is so easy to lose our own lives or those lives we love. I do not and never will know why we need to sell the kinds of weapons we do, and I include cars in this scenario. Cars built to deliver speed in excess of 150 mph on roads that are poorly maintained for cars doing 75 or 80 mph. I own a car which will do very high speed, but why? I seldom get the thing over 50 0r 60 mph but hell it looks good. How pathetic! My wife has a Honda CRV and we take it everywhere because we can comfortably fit in it! Speed is a killer, but we keep building faster and faster cars. It really doesn't make a lot of sense. To be honest, I rarely make a journey over 25 miles and yet see these memorials on highways and junctions, cyclist died, child died, mother died, and so on. But we are all too engaged with getting somewhere fast, I guess, regardless of cost.
