The King Size Bed
A poem about arrogance
Don’t put out the light
we need to talk some more
how did it end in a fight
please don’t shut this door
I don’t want to talk tomorrow
you’re only pretending to sleep
let’s not end the night in sorrow
don’t lie in bed and weep
Are we headed for a big fall
because we’re having a bad time
maybe it is your call
but it makes no sense or rhyme
You wanted a king-size bed
told me it was more roomy for sex
but you lie in it like you’re dead
and tell me I’ll be your ex
Let's go back down the stairs
don’t let distance come between us
truthfully, it wasn’t a long affair
and there’s nothing more to discuss
Give me one more chance
we can put some music on
I’ll explain to you the circumstance
and you really won’t want me gone.
